Gloria Rodriguez-Milord has been chosen by the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers as its social worker of the year.
Rodriguez-Milord is a founding member of the Tri-State Foster Care Cooperative and team leader in the Therapeutic Foster Care Program at Beech Acres Parenting Center in Anderson Township.
The award recognizes integrity, competence and service.
Rodriguez-Milord also was nominated for a national award, to be announced later this year.
In 24 years with Beech Acres, "Gloria has earned the reputation locally and nationally as a passionate advocate for vulnerable children," said Jim Mason, president and CEO of Beech Acres. "I am proud and also humbled to have the opportunity to work with her to help strengthen families for children."
Rodriguez-Milord, who lives in Anderson, is a former president of the Adoption Awareness Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, former board member of the National Foster Family Treatment Association and has served on the national foster care advisory committee of the Child Welfare League of America.
She is also a founding member and past president of the board of directors of Su Casa Hispanic Ministry Center, and is a board member of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. She is a trainer on child welfare issues at the local, regional and national levels.
"I would not have been able to do all this without other people's help and assistance," Rodriguez-Milord said.
