Ohio's Child and Family Services Review Program Improvement Plan

Ohio's Child and Family Services Review Program Improvement Plan (PIP) was approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Due the level of non-conformity in Ohio’s most recent CFSR, HHS has designated a minimum penalty to Ohio of $3.4 million.  However, HHS is suspending the withholding of the IV-E funds associated with the penalty during Ohio’s PIP implementation period.

If HHS determines that Ohio is successful in rectifying any of the areas for which we are out of compliance, it will rescind the withholding of the federal funds associated with each area.  If Ohio does not implement all required activities and attain all progress goals in the PIP, HHS may cease the suspension of penalties and begin withholding Federal funds.  The withholding will continue until Ohio either achieves substantial conformity in a subsequent CFSR, or completes a PIP designed to improve the areas subject to withholding.
