Did county mishandle foster cash?
Hamilton County Commissioner Phil Heimlich's guest column "County OK; state must improve," (Sept. 3) regarding the status of the county's foster care program in light of the Marcus Fiesel case sure is the pot calling the kettle black.
As it turns out, Heimlich was deliberately hiding the disturbing shell games, reminiscent of the state corruption scandals, being played with foster care funds (and other monies totaling over $200 million required to be used for Hamilton County's disadvantaged children).
The county has known for months that foster care dollars issued under the Family Reunification Act were misappropriated to other programs in order to reduce the sums the county needs to provide to the programs and reduce taxes.
Now the question beckons, did Heimlich out and out lie to us in his commentary that everything in the county is fine; or is Heimlich that unaware of the effects of his own leadership decisions that may cause the county Job and Family Services to be taken over by the state and require the biggest county taxpayer bail out in Ohio history?
